A Little Bit About..

I'm Will and this is my gallery site. The images here are the result of various trips to different places with my camera, which I enjoy enormously.

My general philosophy is to try to do as little as possible to an image. For almost all images, I don't add anything to - or remove anything from - the original image, preferring instead to work with what I captured.

You may be wondering where the name of this website comes from. It’s a reference to the “golden hour” described by photographers, meaning the hours around sunrise and sunset; at these two hours, the low sun casts the most incredible warm golden glow across the land, lengthening shadows, adding depth and texture and the most astonishing colour, and giving a feel which you simply don’t get at any other time.

The gallery sections of the site are updated regularly so please come and look round again and let me know what you think of the images here.

Equipment

My current cameras are a Canon EOS 5D Mark II and a Canon EOS 5D digital SLRs, used in conjunction with a selection of Canon 'L' series lenses - my favourite amongst them is the 24-105mm f4 lens.

I've used Canon equipment for a number of years now and it suits my needs very well. The Mark II is my newest camera so I'm enjoying becoming familiar with it and learning what it is capable of achieving.

Printing is done on an Epson Stylus Photo R2880 A3-sized printer, using Epson paper and original Epson Ultrachrome K3 series inks.

Image post-processing and editing is done using Adobe Photoshop CS4 and Adobe Lightroom 3 on a 24" Apple iMac and 17" MacBook Pro.

The website is an original design and was created using Freeway Pro 5.
